This Sunday, September 13, artist Mani Harchgani presents his Intimate Noir and Medieval series at 50 Penn Place Gallery in Oklahoma City. The exhibition marks a defining moment in his artistic journey — a transition from private creation to public encounter. Through shadow, candlelight, and human vulnerability, Harchgani’s monochrome works explore freedom, silence, and the unseen weight of spirit. Each painting invites viewers into a world where darkness becomes illumination, and emotion finds its form in restraint.

Each artwork in this collection is painted on a 30×40-inch canvas.

All Paintings are Oil on Canvas

PAINTING 10 THE Shape of Endurance

The Intimate Noir series unfolds as a meditation on solitude, surrender, and the quiet persistence of being. Each painting is a breath in a long rhythm of returning — from confinement to release, from intimacy to silence. Together they form a single pulse: the body as memory, the shadow as truth, and the road as the space between what was felt and what remains.

My medieval series begins with a single torch illuminating a bare stone room. This simplicity is intentional. I wanted to explore how light, texture, and silence can shape emotion without relying on modern elements. Each painting in this series focuses on one symbolic object -a chair, a flame, a doorway -to express themes of isolation, reflection, and the quiet strength found in solitude.
