Mani Harchgani is an Iranian American artist based IN Oklahoma City

Born into a family of artisans, Mani’s earliest influence came from his mother, a master carpet weaver whose discipline and devotion shaped his understanding of craft. Over time, Mani developed a personal visual vocabulary rooted in chiaroscuro, medieval architecture, and the psychological weight of contemporary struggle. His figures often appear suspended between vulnerability and resilience, illuminated by narrow bands of light that guide the viewer toward the inner life of the subject.

Mani’s practice is deeply connected to themes of identity, freedom, and the quiet endurance of the human spirit. Each painting is constructed with meticulous attention to gesture, posture, and atmosphere, resulting in works that feel both ancient and urgently modern.

Mani continues to expand his body of work with a focus on large-scale compositions, historical and contemporary figure studies, and emotionally charged narratives that explore the tension between shadow and revelation.

His work will be featured in a special showing next Sunday 13 at 50 Penn Place Gallery, marking a new moment of visibility for his Intimate Noir and Medieval series. This presentation brings his paintings into a public gallery setting, allowing viewers to experience their atmosphere, shadow, and emotional depth firsthand.

I paint in silence, surrounded by the smell of oil and the weight of unfinished thoughts. Every canvas begins as a question — a moment I’m trying to understand, a fragment of truth that resists clarity.

My work is built from this tension. It is not about perfection — it’s about presence. About staying with a moment long enough for it to reveal its pulse.
